STEM Mock Interview Day

9th Grade Stem students from Louisville High School participated in a Mock Interview Day at the WLCTC.  Students from Kristi Jernigan's classes were interviewed by Instructors, Corey Coward, Heather Fulton, Christi Vanlandingham, and Counselor, Tammy Parkes.

CTC Teacher of the Year


Congratulations to Mr. Chawan Jernigan who has been honored as the Teacher of the Year from the Winston-Louisville Career & Technology Center for 2015-2016.   Mr. Jernigan is a 1997 honor graduate of Louisville High School. He has also completed 3 degree programs from Mississippi State University: a bachelor's degree in Business Information Systems (2001); a Master’s in Educational Technology (2003); an Education Specialist in Educational Technology (2015). His work experience spans from computer technical support, banking and finance, Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Winston County staff and director, computer repair, and his current profession of teaching. He is married to Kristi Jernigan, who also teaches at LHS. They have three children. He has several goals as a teacher; they include, but are not limited to: (1) to impart knowledge about education AND life to every student; (2) to demonstrate that teachers can impact personal lives of students by caring about more than grades; (3) to teach students to respect everyone.

MCEF Student of the Month


Brody Burchfield is a 2nd year student in Welding. He is a two-year member of SkillsUSA and will be competing in the Individual Welding competition for SkillsUSA this year. He has a 3.93 GPA and made a 27 on the ACT. Brody is a very active student at Louisville High School. He is the quarterback for the football team where he has served as Team Captain for three years. He has received AllConference honors for three years in football. Brody has also played baseball during his high school career and has served as Team Captain for two years. He received All Conference honors in Baseball for four years and was District MVP for 2012 & 2014. Brody has been a member of the BETA club for two years and is a member of Mu Alpha Theta. He serves on the LHS Student Advisory Board for 2015. He will graduate high school with 18 college credits by participating in the Dual Credit program. After the 2014 tornado in Winston county, Brody found time in his busy schedule to perform 40 hours of community service helping the tornado victims. Brody is a great student and is a leader in the classroom and shop. He never misses school. Not only is he the top student in the Welding Program, he is one of the top students in the Senior class at LHS. Educators Rising State Competition Winners

Great job to these Teacher Academy Students who competed at State Competition on February 4-5!
Latiaa Triplett, , Tyrone Stallings, Ke'andra Smith, Diamond Burton, Sierra Ivy, Emaree Stone, Madison Boykin, Yolanda Cooper, & Lara Parker.



Winners were Latiaa Triplett - 4th Place - Lesson Planning & Madison Boykin - 1st Place - Lesson Planning.  These students will be traveling to Boston, MA this summer to compete in National Competition!!
